Can't Find Leak in PS

I have a full hydraulic system from IMCO with a single Mercury PS pump. I have a small leak somewhere that I can not find. I have check all fittings and hoses, checked the cooler, even put a different one on, checked the filter, no trace of fluid behind dash, and checked the bulkhead fttings. No sign of oil in the water ever. I do get a small amount oil in the bilge from an engine seal leak and there is no trace of the PS fluid unless it mixes with the engine oil so I can't smell it or see the red.

Is there a way to presurize the PS system, including the PS pump to check for leaks? Last fall, I had to add a few oz of fluid to the pump every 5-6 hours.

Thanks.

I'm dying to hear about this post. My IMCO does the same thing. Still can't figure out where the fluid goes.

I have a Mayfair dual ram half system and like both of you, I have to add fluid every 5-6 hours or so. I could never find where it was going. Yesterday I walked outside to get some snow off the boat cover and noticed some red snow by the drive. I found the leak. It is leaking out of my left ram. Not the fittings but the ram itself. I would check your ram(s) to see if this is your problem.

Does anyone know if I need to buy a new ram or can my existing one be rebuilt?
