D.U.I. dustcaps (H.E.I.)

Just looking at my new D.U.I. dist. I was wondering:confused: Shouldn't the dust cap be sealed? I mean the coil fits inside the cap with the dust cover on it. The cover just slips over it and bolt down on the cap. I was thinking that this should be sealed to help prevent water and or sparks....Any problem on putting a bead of silicone around the bottom of the cover on the cap?
Thanks
BH

Does D.U.I. refer to it as a "marine" distributor? I think I would definate get a call into D.U.I and ask them about it and see what they have to say about adding the silicone. If it IS one of their marine distributors then one would think it should be sealed well.

I havn't seen mine in a few months, but I think the only part that needs to be spark arrested is the gap from the rotor to the contacts. The coil/cap connection has direct contact. No problem there.
