Gimbals & bellows

I am relacing the bellows as I rebuild my gimbals my question is do I need the exhaust bellows or is there a blockoff plate or somthing of the sort that eliminats it when you are strictly through hull exhaust ? I was looking on BAM's sight in the Bravo parts section and saw a blockoff plate but not sure what it is. Any way if I do not need the bellows let me know.

If all you have is thru hull exhaust now then you either have the block off plate now ( it is mounted on the inside of the transom ) or you have the Y pipe that comes up the transom with caps on them.

Tinkerboater,
Yes I have blockoff plate to the inside (no Y pipe). My question is can I eliminate the exhaust bellows?

If you don't have any exhaust going through the drive the exhaust bellows should never have been installed in the first place. You may even gain some speed or help getting on plane.

:D I'll answer the question simply.

Yes, you can leave off the exhaust bellows.
If using fresh water pickups rather than the drive for water, you can lease that hose off also. Only two other needed thats the drive bellows & shift cable bellows. That's all folks!!

Nope through hull all the time. Do I need to block off the drive or is everyting left open, bar the plate on the inside?

The opening in the drive will
act as a "vent" for the vacuum
area behind the prop hub,
(while at speed)

Good stuff, thanks guys. Open exhaust for a vent makes sence. One less bellows to F around with.
