Changing from Alpha to Bravo?
 

I have a friend who has a 87 liberator with a 330/ Alpha, he wants to change it to a Bravo, what,s involved? beside the lower unit? anyone help us find the pieces?:confused:

He'll need a new gimble assembly. The new one will directly replace the existing alpha. Two additional holes will need to be drilled in the transom and that's it.

The engine will need to have a raw water pump added as the alpha has the pump in the drive.

Call The Bravo Shop they have a kit.

A lot more than the lower unit
 

You'll need the following(at least):

1) the complete drive
2) the transom assembly
3) a seawater pump to mount to the engine (the pump is in the drive on an alpha)

A lot of work, and then you may need more power to go the same speed.........the bravo takes a bit more power to spin, then there is more drag due to the drive size.

It's one of those "is it really worth it" situation. If you love the boat and plan on keeping it, maybe it's worth it. If not, maybe it's not..............

i had a 330 alpha setup and it is worth it. YOu wioll have to pull the engine.

Remove all the alpha stuff. They drill the two ne top mounting holes and bolt on eth new bravo transom assemblie. Easy as pie.

you will be able to sell the boat once its upgraded. I shoudl have done some more reasearch in eth first place and never bought a BBC alpha combo. Every time i took teh boat out i felt like i was going to pop the drive. You can also sell all eth old alpha stuff for abotu what eth bravo costs. If you can do eth work yourself i doubt the project will cost you more than a $1000.
