gil dry exhaust ?
could someone clarify for me, I have a gil dry setup on my boat but water does dump out the pipes like a wet system butalso has seperate dumps. I have seen other dry systems that pour all the water from seperate dumps and the pipes are truely dry. what, is mine a hybrid?

Every Gil dry system I have seen had a small hole ,about 3/16", that dumped water inside at the end of the pipe. They also have the 1/2" NPT tapped hole on top for the overboard dump.
I just assumed that the inside hole was to drain the water jacket after the motor is shut down. Gary |
my pipes have small holes at the end of them so that the drain when the engine is off and so that the water in the pipes don't turn into steam. the hole are to small to handle the amount the water pump can pump. Paul

Just Once,
Your Gils are still considered a "dry" system---the dry system will still give you more power over the wet system and also much lesser chance for reversion. They're just LOUDER and more raspy sounding than a wet system! |
