Sea Strainers...Where

To put them. Just bought 2 marine machine strainers.Application is a 42 Fountain 5oo E.F.I.,Staggered. The staggered is where my problems lies. Can some one post a picture of where you have them. Thanks for your time Daryl

I would worry more about what is convienent for you than how the factory does it (which may be the best way). I ended up keeping mine way to the sides and mounted up toward the top of the stringers. When I have to get into the bilge they never get in my way and I can still reach them from the back seat when I need to do a quick clean.
Just throwing ideas at you I don't have staggered motors and I don't have a Fountain but did go through the same question on where to mount them.

scott and strainers?

did'nt you tell me you can't fig how to turn on your strainers?

Install the strainers so they are above the water line when the boat is at rest. If you don't do this there could be siphon effect. I would install both of them on the transom next to the gimbles. The hose will be right there, good solid mounting is available, and you should have decent access to them.

Easiest from a rigging standpoint is at the transom as Cord says, but I have found that when you need to reach them everything is so hot that you can't. I think I will be putting both of mine in front of the rear engine (staggered) when I re rig my boat. Here is a picture of a 42' Cig that I did yers ago, mounted in back.
