Engine compartment cover lifter
I recently came to own a 1986 357SR1 Kaama but someone had removed the hydraulic device that lifts the engine cover. Anybody know where I should start looking for one?

Is it hydraulic (pump & ram) or electric (motor and screw drive)?
Gary |
I am pretty sure it was hydraulic but can't swear to it.
|
Is electric better?
|
Electric is simpler and easier. Try CP Performance, Rex Marine, and Eddie Marine. All online. I'm pretty sure they all have electrics too. BTW they make different length ones too.

They're around $230.
The Formula has always used en electric screw jack. |
Try Gaffrig. They make one. I have to put one on my boat as well. Ellectrics are ok but they are slower then Hydrolic.

Dana Marine Products make a really cool looking hydraulic one that fits on the sides of the engine compartment. With this system, you wouldn't have the pole running down the middle of your engineroom.
|
The Dana unit is very fast and sells for around $900 for the pair of hinges, hydraulic rams and pump and dead battery release. Looks wise, there is nothing fancier. You would need to see if you have proper mounting capability, clearance to exhaust, etc. This unit replaces your rear hinges.

question? If I have a dead battery with a Hyd lift how do I get hatch cover up to get to battery ?
