DUI
Imongo,
I just bought one of the DUI Distributors with rev limiter. Anyone that has used them ,likes them. Very simple hook-up. Later John |
Hey John,
So, near as I can tell, this elimates the coil and everything else. Just drop it in and hook a hot to it and run the plug wires. Sounds too simple! Is this true? Mongo |
Distributor
Imongo,
Yeah it's that simple, 1 Hot wire to Distributor & she is ready to run. There are several threads on this part. Remember you also going to need a Rev. limiter. Time will tell on how good it is. John |
Well I can add a few things on my install so far.....1st thing is if you run an alpha and have a shift-interupter you have to special wire the thing.....Second YOU MUST USE A 14g WIRE for the POWER source...According to DUI this is a must to get proper volts....I had to get a 4way ingnition switch and rewire to the distributor because the factory harness power wire was too small. This is often overlooked in the install. BUT the damn thing is RIGHT ON it sits like a brick @ idle and is VERY smooth during the advance. QUALITY PRODUCT!!!!!!

Re: Dristrubitors...
BAD-HABIT-
I am looking at the DUI distributor to replace all the T-Bolt 4 on my 1985 Merc v-8 with Alpha drive Was the install & hook up to the shift interrupter easy? Did DUI provide the wiring instructions? Thanks TIM |
Re: Dristrubitors...
Yes It was fairly straight Forward....They did provide the instructions...Seems like I had a few questions but they were all cleared up with a phone call....2 years later and I still think it was one of the best things I did for my boat....

Re: Dristrubitors...
Thanks BH-
I have given up on the T-Bolt 4 system, I have trouble-shot this thing -replaced the sensor in the distributor- still no spark, next item that Merc manual says to replace is the T-bolt module, and it is EXPENSIVE- If you can find one! So I beleive the DUI is a better set up. I was a concerned about the height of the set up, I have a structure above the distributor, should be ok. Did they match the advance curve to your engine?thanks TIM |
Re: Dristrubitors...
I heard nothing but good thing about those DUI systems, Check out TP Marine, he has them on his site for 305. Talk to Don he'll set you up 602-438-1361.

Re: Dristrubitors...
Yes they did.....To me one of the best parts of the system is that you can stop into any auto-parts store and get parts for it if you are in a jam......

Re: Dristrubitors...
We have D.U.I. set ups in our race boat, and each of our personal boats.
They work, easy to setup, tune, very reliable, and look nice and neat too!! |
Re: Dristrubitors...
Do you guys happen to know if the DUI system is a multiple spark system at low RPM for good idling and non-load-up charactoristics? If not, how well do they work compared to an ignition box to keep the engine from loading up during long idling periods?
Also, can it be made to work with a Crank Trigger system/set-up??? |
Re: Dristrubitors...
No provision for multiple spark that I know of. They're a marine HEI. Not really applicable for a crank trigger either. But a very good unit!
