Cd Players In Boats
 

As anyone had good experience with CD players receivers (single models)

CD chargers are'nt realy a problem since they have good suspensions.

I have experienced alot of skip problems with my new Clarion last summer even in ligth shops and I would like to change it. I got space problems so I wont go for a CD charger.

Any Super Streroide CD players on the market?

I heard good things about Pionner and --New G-FORCE Cady SONY--

Not Jensen, took at least 5min to read a burnt cd, then would skip like mad in any chop.

I would look for something with lots of buffering. Not sure a good number, but would think 20X would be good.

I"ve had good luck with my Kenwood. KDC something......came with a remote too. HANDY!!!! I run a 24 Baja....anything up to 3 feet doesn't make it skip.

I have a Sony CDX something?/ with the 6 disc changer also. It skips a little but only when going pretty fast. I will be looking to upgrade to the new head units with built in memory to store music:p

I have had 2 kenwoods, 2 sonys, 1 clarion, the sony has been as good maybe better. Actually the best was the clarion but it was a 1995 model, it rained on it, beer in it, always worked great for like 4 years.:eek:

I had good luck with my Alpine unit. Got it open box for a $150. It never skip last year.

You need to look for a cd player that has a built in buffer This should stop your skipping problem. I think Sony has a model with this feature. I am not a dealer for them so I cannot give you a model # sorry. Forrest

What is XM ???

XM is satellite radio. I have a Sony thats pretty good about not skipping. Do the MP3 music keg type hard drives skip?

Panasonic CQ-DPG615 CD Receiver

I installed mine 3 years ago and it has worked great. It has a 10 second memory and was made for 4X4 vehicles and the boating environment. I'm not sure if they are still making it. I hope so, incase I need to buy another one in the future. This reciever was part of their G-TECH series.

Went on Panasonic site, no more G-TECH
Went on Sony’s site, they got the new G-PROTECTION… Consists in an improved CD carrier with gel suspension + 3 sec. Buffering memory. They claim that the carrier gel suspension is so good that the 3 sec. buffering is just there in case… Anyone has tested it?

The Sonys work good but not great, I have the anti shock on my indash and changer and once you get over 50mph I think they all will skip no matter what they have, but thats jusy my 2 cents.

What I do love about the sony is the wired remote that I mounted on my dash, I control the stereo just inches from my throttle.:cool:

I have a cassette head unit and use a sony walkman with buffer.
and cassette adapter chord.

call me old school... but the walkman is velcroed to my helm, has a remote for volume and song indexing, and i can change cd's without leaving the wheel. really quite convenient.......

it skipps when i'm passing waterfoul. thats the only time it does it.:D

Go for broke- I've got the MEX Sony, and after dropping off a 6 ft wall -- ferry wake with the scarab, we all looked over to see the stereo hanging from its own wires still cranking AC/DC thinking it was the MP3. It was actually the cd playing --hadn't burned into it yet, and did not miss a beat.
This thing wasn't cheap but in my mind worth the price, I don't have to have a cd on board, and if you're docked next to someone with a cool tune just pop it in and burn it as you play , or quick in-- in a matter of minutes the whole cd is burnt into memory. I've just got to find out how to link it to my computer, to make it easier to transfer, name and file songs, it's a little long using the dials to enter the names etc.

Most of the stereo manufacturers have stopped trying to decieve the public with the claims of a musib buffer. They have never had them. Sony for a while claimed that they had a 25 second buffer. Ya RIGHT. Then why was it when at CES I walked up and hit the board with the radio in it hard that it skipped immediately. For that kind of buffering to accur with out having to waite 25 seconds to start to listen to music (no one will be that patient) then the cost of the deck would be in the thousands. A three second buffer is easy to do and that is why they have it there. The key to no skipping CD players is to make sure the player is mounted so rock solid that it can not move at all in the dash. CD players do not ussually skip on the first hit is ussually the player bouncing around that causes the problem. I knew I was going to be kicking the crap out of my stereo for the next few years so I just tossed in a Jensen CD head unit from like 8 years ago into my boat and so far it has never skipped.

Actually, I usually don't run my CD player when I'm on plane. I prefer to listen the the BBC music eminating from my open exhaust!!!! Now THAT'S music!!!! Oh yeah...... :D :D

And rambunctious, no snappy come backs to that one. And I think you know what I'm talking about. Just shut the H up!!!!! :p

I would go with Sirus or XM satellite radio!!!

I bought the keenwood music keg for my boat (mp3 player) I got 1900 songs at my finger tip with no skiping what so ever It is small at 7-3-9 inches and can mount it any where (dry).
