Lab Finishing props ?
Ok Guys, I know I have a combination that I don't think anyone else has, so I don't think that I can get any results without trying out props.
However, I'd Like to know what kind of speed / midrange increases do you get with a labbed prop....from searching the board, it looks like it may be 2 or 3 mph. Is this about right ? My combo is a 31 scarab with 355's pushing shomewhere in the low to mid 400 hp range. Since it has small blocks in the back, it sits a bit higher than the rest of them, so I don't think it needs any stern lift (it flies really nice & level). The boat spins 21 MPs at 6000, and 23's around 54-5500. This gives me 70.4 on GPS. Anyways, I don't have a lot to spend right now, but I'd like to gain an extra few mph (who doesn't). I really like the punch of the 21's, but like the cruise of the 23's. I also tried a 22 bravo I, with similar results to the 23s. Any thoughts ? |

The 21's at 6000 were giving me the 70.4. The 23's ran about the same top end (70.2 was the best I could get last summer ), but spun in the 54-5500 range . However, I liked the cruise with the 23's (saved gas & spun less). The acceration isn't really bad with the 23's (in fact it has more bite with the 23's, which actually lets me get on plane a bit easier..........the 21's tend to blow out if you get on it hard), It's just that the 21's worked well and pulled nicely through the entire RPM range :)
Maybe what I'll need to do is double check everything once we stop getting this F&%#*ng freezing rain & snow, then give you a call. Like always, seeking an extra couple MPH. Thanks Darin, Like I said, I'll call you when I get back out there, RJ |

Originally posted by HOUSTONPROP Ratchet from what I have gathered from your great information ,I would suggest working the 21 pitch MPs and add alot of cupping/This will maintain the punch and run like a 23 on the top end. If this does not work, I will work the 23 MPs at no cost / one question what are the 21 pitch props running are they at 70.4 at 6000 or are you just talking about the 23s? Thanks Darin Do you advise adding some cup to the Bravo 1's 24 pitch we discussed? BVS629 Dennis:confused: |
