TRS to SSM3???

is the SSM transom assemblie smaller than a TRS transom???

Is that a tough conversion? Does the transom need to be glassed over and re-cut?

Are the ssm3 small shaft drives tough drives? I woudl think they are;t as strong as the big shaft drives but are they decent?

Puder-
My cat originally had #2 Speedys, which used the TRS gimble and upper drive. You'll have to do some glass work on the transom to convert to #3s, but it's worth the effort in my opinion.
My engines are about 800 HP each and the drives haven't presented any reliability issues. I had to change gears (different ratio) and had no problem getting parts.

Do a seach in the tech section. I've posted on this subject a couple times.
The small shaft IIIs are very tough. What kind of hp are you going to be running?

wasn't plannign on anythign in particular. I know tehre are a bunch of good deals abournd on some older boats with TRS drives and some good deals on SSM3 drives. I put 2 and 2 together and i came up with super reliable good deal. Helli coudl run 600hp and all day and night with no rpobs on big old heavyt v bottom.

:d

thinking about my next project (before my current one is even finished....)
