I went from Mercury drive fluid (green stuff) to Redline Heavy Shockproof over the weekend. I could not get all the Mercury fluid out and it is mixed in my reservoir on the top of the engine. Will this hurt with the oils being mixed? Should I drain it and do it again? This stuff is $10.50 a quart.

bikinilover,

I made the same change over the weekend. Same thing with is mixing in the resevoir. Now I can't feel it shift in or out gear it's so smooth. The prop is much easier to spin by hand also.

RedLine

I assume the gear lube to use is the heavy duty formulation of Shock Proof. I notice there are two different part numbers in the summit book.
Also, is it better to run the Amsoil motor oil or the Redline 20W-50. I also notice redline has the straight 50W racing oil. I usually prefer the 20W-50. What's your thoughts guys?
I have always run Mobile 1 gear and motor oil.

Thanks
