Pyrometer's
:confused: I HAVE A 25' OBSESSION CAT RUNNING A 525SC. I AM INQUIRING ABOUT THE NECESSITY OF A PYROMETER; AND IF I NEED/SHOULD HAVE ONE ON A SUPERCHARGED ENGINE SHOULD I HAVE THE PROBE PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED???????

It isnt a bad idea to run one, but the thermocouple needs to be down stream from the exhaust port a few inches at least to get an accurate reading. This is tough to do on a water cooled header. It would work best if you can monitor all 8 cylinders, which again isnt practical. I gave up the thermocouples and went to an O2 sensor in each tail pipe. With analog gauges it gives a relative reading as to what is happening. Would it save my engine if I see it go lean... well who knows. Would it give enough warning with a presurized motor.. I doubt it. Best bet is to get the jetting right in the begining and go from there.
