alternator noise[bearing]
 

alright, how many of you ever had any luck getting the bearings replaced in a 65amp alternator, on a merc 454 mag mpi 1997
the part # is 805884P, a new one is over 300.00 dollars, what you think?

I've had great success rebuilding. Good as new in my opinion when done properly. Both my engines sport alternaters that have been rebuilt. No problems to date knock on wood.

I haven't done it myself. But, I had mine rebuilt last year. Seems fine.

thanks for the input, one of my alternators is making a bearing noise, but it is charging fine, just hate to spend the big money unless i have to
