Trim-in-Handle switch problem?

Ok....here's a question for you. I thought I had a problem with the switch for the trim-in-handle (throttle). I have the older morse style shifter/throttle assembly and it's just a plain rocker switch. It worked in the down position but did not work for the trim up position. I ordered a new switch from Eddie Marine and just tried to use it and poof....now the new one doesn't do a thing.

The trim on the dash panel still works which is used to bring the lower unit up to the trailer position. Is it probable that it's in the wiring from the dash switch to the trim in handle switch or is it possibly the trim limit switch on the lower unit itself?

More problems this spring than I care to think about!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking the trim limit switch is bad. Bypass it and see what you get.

I've seen a few that have had wires pinched/ broken near swith on throttle.

Sounds like you've got a dead short that is not fused in the remaining curcuit. The switch is the weak point and is acting like a fuse. Pull out the shifter assembly and check the wires beneath. They may have rubbed from the cables/levelers/linkage moving.

Sorry about the new switch, but consider it an expensive fuse that protected the circuit and kept your boat from becoming a barbeque!

Good Luck, Jeff :)
