Help quick...No drain pug in lower unit!!!!!!

My drive has a cone that the previous owner installed..I think the epoxy or whatever mates the cone to the drive is now covering the drain plug....Is this common practice? How do I drain the drive? How do I fill the drive? What should I do? Help quick..I want to go boating tomorrow.

if it is a low water pickup model the drain plug is behind the prop shaft and removal of the prop is neccessary for draining.

A friend of mine who is a Merc mechanic said that they did that to force you to remove the prop when changing drive lube. Their reasoning was that that would prompt you to lubricate the prop splines. He said he has had many of them come into the shop where the prop had never been removed and was frozen to the shaft.
