prop testing procedure?
when testing different props what variables should be used? should i test with full tank of gas ? how many people aboard etc.?if you tested a prop say with full tank of gas and just the driver aboard and got a wot of say 4900rpm's , how would this reading be affected with a full load of people? would the rpm's drop?

Hi 26 Sonic,
It's not important how many aboard, fuel levels, etc. So long as you have the same constants for each prop test. For example full fuel, 4 passenegrs, 88 degrees, 70% humidity etc. If the constants stay constant you'll get a reliable comparison of props. For the most real world tests, have your boat loaded as you would on a normal outing, as opposed to a light load, low fuel etc. What you're seeking is a prop that will run at your engines upper RPM limits while the boat is loaded as normal. Good luck, Steve |
