Cometic Gaskets
Anyone have any experience with Cometic gaskets on their blown BB marine engines?
|
Left out an important detail...Cometic's three layer stainless steel head gasket...
|
They are expensive. I used the Cometic gaslkets on my 502 w/B&M 250. I used ARP head bolts. Only have an hour or two on it. Not much to report. Engine builder recommended them.

Blown1500 runs them on crazy boost levels. He likes them.
I think Felpro 1047's are just dandy for under 8 pounds. |
I have recently used them in lieu of tapping for the extra head bolts or oringing....as insurance. They were highly recomended and seemed to hold torque pretty well. Ran on dyno....so far so good. They ain't cheap!

I use and like the Cometic gaskets. Aeveral NASCAR teams I know use them, too. They are expensive, but they are good and seem to hold water better than the Fel Pro "O" ring gaskets plus no extra machining!
|
Yep alot of Cup teams use them and they hold !!1
They installed right with good bolts will do much better than the fel-pro I have a B&B O-ring tool for BB chevys thats almost new and uses the trick fel-pro gasket made for this tool ,,the tool was close to 1900.00 new I have 2 now and will sell this one for 999.00--if anyone wants it |
Cometic Head Gaskets
Thanks for the posts. True, they aren't cheap (~$150 a pair), but good insurance for a Gen V blower motor that has blown Fel Pro gaskets twice between the #5 and #7 cylinder.

If you are running original heads, call or pm and I'll save you a ton of grief!!
