Electric gauges VS Mech. Gauges????
 

Redoing my dash that has Gaffrig anti fogs,with Gaffrig monster gauges.What is the better gauge to go with?Are electrics as accurate and responsive as mechanicals???Don't really like the idea of fuel and oil lines under the dash,BUT....Any idea what Cigs,Active Thunders,Skaters,or Outerlimits use????

Mechanicals are more accurate, but I wouldnt want a line to come loose and have hot oil spraying everywhere.

They both have advantages. If you are redoing the dash, I'd stick with what you currently have. You won't need to run wires if you have mechanical or run tubes if you have electrics.

Personally, I prefer electrics. A wire is alot easier to run than a tube. And the newer style electric gauges can have 270 degrees of needle sweep.

I have mechanical gas, oil and water pressure gauges on my dash. I may switch my gas and oil gauges around to a different and much SAFER set up. Word has it that bobby daniels has the hot set-up---he supposedly has mechanical gauges with a much safter set-up that I would like to switch to.

If I had the money to set it up the way I want, I'd run electric to the instrument panel and a mechanical set, as a backup, in the engine compartment.
Except for fuel pressure. That one would remain electric. I wouldn't want the line to break and spray fuel all over the place.
I would even install a digital tach for tuning purposes.
