Which Electronics 2 Buy?
Hi All; Looking to install some electroincs for navigation. Just started looking at whats available. Chartplotter, GPS, radar, some new units have all rolled into one.
I have seen certain makes have their own technology like Bluechart from Garmin. What are you using and what do you like? Seeking opinions. Seen any good deals around? I have a 31 Sonic in Chesapeake Bay of MD and associated rivers. Planning overnight trips up, down and across Bay to towns and popular spots I find out about. No arch for old style radar antenna. Thanks! Harpoon |
I've got a Garmin 162 with BlueChart. The detail of the bluechart charts is awesome. Thay have all the information of the paper charts with the bonus of selectively displaying only what you need.
I couldn't be happier with my chartplotter. It locks in quick, never looses signal, is smooth when moving and is really easy to operate. The clarity and display for a unit of this size, is also very good. |
Very expensive but one of the best out there is the Northstar. Have run both the older version and the new color version on my fathers Tiara. If you have the dash space and the money, definitely an excellent unit....easy to use too.
