Water pump...

I took a ride for lunch today and a mile from home snagged a plastic bag and ate up impeller God bless the Delaware river. It's looks to me that I need foot longer arms and one more elbow to get to the pump.

Anybody have any insight or suggestions about getting to and remove the Seawater pump on an 496?

I can't believe that nobody has any insight on removing and reinstalling the Seawater Pump. on a 2002 496 (375HP).
Local dealer wants $250 to do. I can get the rebuilding kid for $75 or just impeller for $28

I'm looking for is some insight...If any thing else on the engine needs to be removed. Looks like I might have to remove fuel/water separator and some other hoses to get the pump out. Any knowledge from somebody that has already none it.

Little help...I remove the Belt and screw #22 and loosed up nut #22, and disconnected both the supply and return hose. Yet the seawater pump will NOT budge. It's a very tight spot and can't see sh!t.

Does anybody know of any other bolt or nuts that I'm missing?

I pulled mine off and threw away:p Got tired of the aggrivation so I put on a crank mounted Johnson pump like the Volvo's . Now a 15 min. job:D

If you haven't already done so, remove the fuel/water seperator assembly. It will make life much easier and much easier to get to the supply and return hoses. Once the belt and hoses are off, there is only two nuts holding the seawater pump and bracket in place. Make sure you are taking the bracket off as well. The pump bolts to the bracket and you'll never get to all the bolts while on the engine.

Now that I know what to do it's not that bad. Got everything back together in about 30 min.

ccarloss...your right removing the fuel/water separator assembly is a must, other than that two bots and belt.

Thanks

I used two of these a year ago..........DEFINITELY THE WAY TO GO. Very simple, and 2 pumps cost less than 1 merc & they are brass !
