Alhpa hinge pin torque?
I have seen numbers ranging from 40ft lbs to 90-100ft lbs. Thinking of going a happy medium with the red stuff. Anyone know the correct #?
If you are going to do the maintenance I would not lock tite them. Just torque em down good and check them after some runtime.
Makes sense, easy enough to adjust trim limit and sender after checking regularly.
don't know about alpha, but the spec for bravo is 50 ft-lbs
i used 1 drop of locktight just to not worry about it backing out. |
Alpha hinge pins are torqued to 95 ft-lb. Manual also says to use Loctite on the threads.
Sift through the various years of manuals and you will find several different torque values. When using Loc Tite and the higher values there was trouble with seizing and stripping threads. Go about 75 and grease them. Check after a period of time.

I did that the first time like my manual states and though it extreme for going into an aluminum bell housing, shortening the life of the threads. LowerUnits.com states 40ft lbs. I went to 50ft lbs last night and will keep an eye on them.
