Programming 496 Ecu
 

Anyone know of a company that can program the ECU for the 496 besides Dustin?
I have a 2001 496HO and just got my lab finish prop back from York Propellers (BOY IT LOOKS GREAT) and thought an upgrade to the ECU would put the icing on the cake.
I called Whipple to check on a price for the reprogram and 120 Deg. stat (stage 1 without K & N filter) and after several attempts and being on hold for 1/2 hour, Dustin told me $799.
I told him I have a wife that put me on a budget of $600, which she did. He said NO it's $799.
Come on after a $5 thermostat the rest is for doing the computer.
I know AZ Speed and Marine has kits out for the 454 & 502 that are reasonable including a fuel pressure reg. I think he's trying to bend us over.

I think you're SOL. I remember reading something about Whipple having the EXCLUSIVE rights to the new ECM's.

Yes, Whipple BOUGHT the EXCLUSIVE rights to re-program the 555 ECU's. That's why it cost so much.
