Out drive oil foaming
Running amsoil syn, someone told me that synthetic foams when run hard .mine does and raises 2 inches in the bottle and when sits for a while it settles back down . some one else said its water and its boiling.
What do you think> |
Check to make sure your resevoir bottle cap is sealing correctly.
|
go by NAPA and get so water paste ,paste you put on a stick and dip in to a fuel tank to check for water it blue and turns bright red when water is present even a little water ,if they don;t have it at
napa a tank in ground fuel tank or filling station suppy company willl have it for sure, its killer try redline gear oil it will not foam in your b-max's:D :D :D :D |
Bottle cap is tight,no water from there, whats the diff in red line?
|
oil, gearlube,it's all voodoo. show me a bravo that blew up because of factory gearlube! anyway,if you want to run synthetic it will foam. when gearlube heats up it expands. it only has a very small area inside the upper gearhousing and after that it has the space in the bottle. the cap must seal or the gearlube would overflow out of the bottle. so,naturally the level will go up when it's hot and down when it's cold. if you want to check for water pull the lower fill plug ahead of the prop after it's cool and you will see discoloration there. water is heavier than oil.
|
On my Scarab i ran syn in the imco drive and it would foam .changed it to the merc oil and it quit. My Hustler i have allways had syn in it ,I think ill try the water paste thing.
|
your right on Rob amsoil will foam I don't know why but redline
in my boats as well as merc will not ??? wish I knew why ???? |
I've been having problems with the merc oil foaming out the breather in my TRS. If I keep it so it just barely touches the stick I'm ok. I was going to switch to the redline synthetic but if it foams also maybe I wont now.
|
Doug I have never had Red line foam ,but anything is possible
I use it only in the drives and no complaints |

I also ran alysyn syn in the scarab and it foamed too. it was a real thin oil.
|
Thanks Bob, I think I'll go ahead and try the redline. I called them and they recommend the Gear lube heavy and see what happens.
|
I use redline and love it in my A/T 2nd boat
|
If you want, try good ol'e stock MERC stuff see what happens :D
|
it will work of course but not as well as syn. and you don't have that added insurance if your not running a good syn. like redline shock proof as we've all been over ,but capo by all means run what trips your trigger :D I'm staying with the tough stuff .

Bull**** Cessna! You can use factory and it will be fine. Unless you are running a full APBA or SBI race at WOT all day long. It's a waste of $$$ all in your head and drive that is :D
I'm not downing syn fluids at all I spent hours in GM training classes and all the engineers say the same thing for everyday use you do NOT need syn oils as long as you change at suggested intervals. If GM thought they could cut down on warranty claims by using different oils trust me the BIG 3 would be doing just that. |
So your a typical prts changer capo !! I'm damn proud of you ,the big three do use syn in spec. applications and alot of us have 750 plus H.P. and alot of load ect.from running ,poker runs ect and if you don't know the syn. is better by all the past post your hopless !! go back and read some of them their very good by some smart people ,but I agree on a sunsation with stock or close to it you can get by of course with stock fluid ,,but for sure everyone knows syn is hands down better than stock fluid for our high h.p. high load conditions which in most cases are harder than
factory races for sure most people on here have alot more power and run as hard or harder than supervised races ,but this is wasting time with this as you would argue with a fence post use what you like |
Guys there is a poll on this page thats been here for weeks and 156 people have responded and 146 out of 156 use SYN oil 10 use petro.base oil hopfully they're not all wrong or full of someones words BS:p
I agree enough said on this the board guys know what works :D |
typical parts changer ? Far from it buddy, and if you can read You'll see where I said Synthetic is better for Hp applications vs stock applications.
People are so quick to flap their yappers anymore without reading. |
Guess you should learn to express in writing what you want to say because all You said was its a waste of money ect..as I said use what you like, but as it was pointed out you'll be in the minority on this board
But be happy and use it,GOOD LUCK to ya |

|
Besides Cessna I'm boatless now I sold my boat :p
but I'll gladly take a ride on yours no matter what drive oil you use :D |
you even have your post inthe wrong order !!
You are saying high H.P. on a bravo and load doen't need syn. unless its run in a race all day WOT ,wrong thats absurd Enough said I'm running the smart stuff for protection as the others on the board Think I'll go to ride now ,seeya YOUR WELCOME ANYTIME TO RIDE |
Cessna are my Ex ? because you have me feeling like she use to. She would and could always have me walking away thinking she was right! :D :p
|
Na ,but if she's getting any money you could send it to me instead
of her ! |
