Merc spline grease on propshaft?
After reading Scott's post a while back I realized thatI was using some wrong grease in the wrong places:rolleyes:
I bought some of that Merc spline grease for the drive couplers, and someone also told me to use it on the propshafts as well. Well, I opened the tube last night and the stuff seems to be too thin for use on the propshaft:confused: Is it ok to use, or should I use 2-4-c instead? |
Use the same marine grease used for the couplers, trailer hubs, and steering. It heavy duty, doesn't mix with water and bottom line, provides corrosion protection...

Maybe I am wrong, but I use Anti Seize on my prop shafts! It lasts a LONG time-----it hardly EVER comes/washes off!

too much grease on prop shaft
if your prop has a rubber bushing ,too mch grease will work its way into the hub and cause it to slip.Darin (use anti seize)
