engine just shuts down?

Since the day I owned the boat she starts with one turn of the key...never a problem. Last season while running, the engine would just shut down out of no where...one turn of the key, she would turn right over run about 10 seconds then shut down again. This would happen about three to ten times consecutivly then run the rest of the day no problem at all. Over the winter I changed the wires, the plugs, the cap, the module, the fuel pump, the coil, and the water seperater fuel filter(which had a very little bit of water in it). Needles to say she did it again today...does anyone have any other solutions or advice? This woul be greatly appreciated. The engine is a 1991/1992 volvo 454 big block with 330 hp, thanks in advance...JD454

Is there a low oil presure cut off switch??
How's the oil pressure??

Ive seen fuses do this. Far fetched but its cheap and easy, change the fuse in the ignition circuit. Next, the ignition switch itself and then maybe the dead-man switch.

I think you need to pinpoint this problem before attempting to guess at what is happening. The next time this happens, you have to figure out what is causing it not to fire up. Check for spark and check for fuel. See which is not there. That will get you looking in the right direction.

Sounds like a circuit breaker popping somewhere that automatically resets itself???????

Well I was out again today and once again she shut down once then ran steady for two hours. The first thing I looked at when she started to putter out was the oil pressure gauge and it was were it was suposed to be...tomorrow I will pull the fuel filter and check for more water...Thanks for the advice guys if you have got any more throw them my way...
