Did you spin the hub on your prop? Unless it's a solid hub, then yes sounds like you lost the plates in your trans. Did you smell the trans oil?

Check your prop first though.

Yes I check the the prop it is a sold hub but checked anyway the trans oil smell normal and looks normal

What does it feel like if you turn the prop? Any crunchies? Drain a little oil out of the drive and see what it looks like.

I have not drained any oil yet but when I turn the prop every feels fine

not trying to insult you inteligence but is the trans oil level up to par?

Also does the engine rev way up when you apply throttle with it in gear, like it would if you where in neutral??

yes it is to the full mark and yes the engine does rev up just like it was in neutral

I had something similar happen to mine. There is a seal on the clutch pressure plate, which holds the oil in. This deteriated and popped out slighly jamming the pressure plate and destroying the seal. So no engagement of gear. I had a noise when this happened as is jammed still touching the clutch plates, and they slipped. Thought Id blown it.

Turned out it was a good job it did as some of the internal roller bearings used for reverse were seized, and one of them had its shaft spinning and wareing through its housing. This was a result of poor lube. From a holed cooling tube.

Now I am renewing shaft bearings and all seals on both boxes. + some of internal roller bearings.

Out of interest, what gear oil are you using.
