audio warning alarm question
 

Any thoughts on this ? 1998 454mag efi. Put boat in a couple of days ago. 45 minute ride home, all is well. Yesterday, had the boat out, no problems but after maybe 30 minutes , the audio alarm sounds and stays on. Oil pressure is normal, water temp is normal, drive fluid resevoir up to level. Visually nothing seems wrong, boat runs ok. With the alarm sounding,motor to a nearby stop to eat dinner. After about an hour, restart boat and immediately the alarm sounds and stays on. Since everything seems normal, drive home about 20 minutes , mostly no wake but with the alarm driving us crazy the whole way. Maybe a bad sensor? Is there an easy way to trouble shoot?

Disconnect one sender at a time till it stops.

I had a oil presure switch go out once. you can get them at napa 3.00-5.00 merc would be a lot higher.

Start with the drive resevoir bottle.

Team Gary you were correct. Started with the drive resevoir bottle and found the wire had moved slightly and touched the exhaust just enough to melt thru and contact the inner wire. Its always a relief to find a simple answer! Thanks
