Stereo junkies,
what's the best performing and looking way to get skip free music: Satellite or MP3 players? I want to utilize as much of the Clarion gear in the boat as possible.
Bruce...:D |
Bruce, I got my Clarion out!!!! Clarion=Skip
Pionner all the way ! Mp3 single cd player installed 2 weeks ago. Dealer garanted no skiping or money back. I made it skip hitting a wall of 6 foot of water at 60 mph and with a 45 degrees angle of attack... Otherwise, nothing makes that babe skip. Also- 4 x 50 watt mossfet built-in amp. |
A good quality CD MP3 Changer will also be much more resistant to skipping than a head unit. Sony has one with ESP that has a memory buffer that stores 12 seconds forward to eliminate the skipping and it works. I doubt it could be outfitted to Clarion unless its a FM modulation unit though..
|
I've got a 12 disc changer as well. I don't know the exact buffer time it has, but it skips. I also think the "no moving parts" concept is a good thing.
Clarion sells a head unit with digital display for satellite. I suppose I could change to it and the FM modulate an MP3 player into it. That all seems so 70's though. I also looked at the music kegs. They still have a HD moving around reading the data so I don't know if it would hold up to the abuse of frequent wave launches... |
ahh, but you still have a drive bouncing back and forth...
|
Some of the new Sony head units have memory stick capabilities not much storage but a sure way for no skips
|
My satalite has never skipped.

Hate to pay the monthly fee in December:D

Who needs to listen to music in a go fast with two big block screaming in your ears!
|
That's just it. I record the 502's at WOT then play it back while i'm anchored or at the dock. Great gas mileage that way...
|
outlaw, I shoud do that. (thinking to self "How pitiful is that, dont have the gas $ for a V6!!!)

Bruce...:D I have used pioneer for years, they rarely skip and hold up great. But my 302 has a clarion with the remote on the dash, the cd was not working when I bought it , I will have a new m335 Clarion Monday from UPS, I hope i did not make a mistake? I liked the idea of keeping the remote on the dash.:D :D Greg |
I installed kenwood mp3 player (music keg) No skipping with lots of music at finger tip. Look at kenwoods site and also check out phatnoise.com
|
But will the hard drive in these "music Keg" foremat units hold up to the abuse of offshore running?
Bruce.... |
