Ok ,what are the specs on a 900 sc ???? what would the HP be without the blower ???
On the eagle 4340 crank and rods, i've heard they are good past 1400 HP.... Now, that is cked and balanced of course..... I/m trying to make a well rounded/ educated desision, I'm not an expert on the motor building subject, it seems everyone has alittle different idea on building the perfect motor...... and maybe the perfect motor is different for each person,..... I quick senario on what i think is perfect for me,(keeping in mind that nothing is perfect.....) i have a 350 hp dozer it weights 90,000lbs the diesel engine that is in the machine is very powerful, the motor i'm talking about is a cummins kt19, now in other applications this engine makes 1500 HP, but in my dozer only 350 ,at 350 HP the motor will last almost forever provided it is well maintained.... i'm looking on those lines for the big cube engine i want to build ... somthing that willl last , cause sorry to say i have more fun boating than working on the motors lol say a 572 built for say 580 to 600 hp NA low comp now down the road if i want to go alittle faster then i could add a blower, if i have a good foundation there shouldn't be a prob, maybe i'll have to change the cams with a blower but you get the basic idea...... sorry if this was to long |
I would not dream of building a 1100 hp motor much less a 1400
hp motor with eagle rods or crank !!!!!! Man ,this is way off you just need to say what you want to do and speed in what type boat ,how many cubic dollars you are willing to spend and we can go from there. You have so many options its unreal ,,540,557,565,572,566,598,623,632, and on and on -- For HP you need carrilo or simular rods and sonny bryant billet crank ,,and dry sump oiling ,,get the idea ?? just advise :) :) :) |

Look for or PM ken here on the board. he is a friend of mine and also boats on the Hudson. he has a 33 sonic with 454's and prochargers . the boat is fast as hell. some where in the 90's. all he is using is stock GM crate motors with some head work. low budget motors with great results.

Cubic $$$ whatever it takes at this point,
Don't want to waste $$ on stuff i' don't need or will ever need. (ie billet cranks ,super rods etc..) thought i had a good package put together ,i will have my machine shop guy cking the tolerance's and assembling.... looks like the eagle crank and rods might not be right choice... callies dragon slayer crank and rods ??? Better??? I was surprized to see that a 500 bulldog, is 540 ci and makes only 470 hp... but i'm sure its very reliable.. this is prob what i'm looking to do on a larger scale, i pretty sure i need close to 600 HP X 2 to hit 75 in this particular hull (26 * deep vee) the drives are built to hold up to 750HP trannies 850HP SO blowing this engin in the future i prob won't want exceed much past 750HP or i'll be looking into more prob sounds like 565 is the best combo for what i'm looking to do ??? I just want to thank everyone on here for all your help, the education i'm recieving from this board is invaluable... and i want everyone to know its well appreciated.... Thx again Gregg |

A 565 is the best bang in my experance for the buck . merlin or dart b;ock for added strenght and insurance (((I know guys people even me get along with less but he wants BULLET PROOF,))) Luniti crank ,eagle rods ,j&e pistons, air flow reaserch heads good valves , nice roller cam ,whipple or procharger and a BULLET PROOF PROVEN COMBO**** pump gas and low boost 750 to 1000 hp depending on boost level,,,,N/A no blower 600 to 700 easy h.p. tough and proven :) :) |
