Best Oil Filters??

Just wondering what oil filters everyone is using I ahve been using the merc ones?? Also if anyone knows the # for the filter on the 500efi, let me know it will save me a trip.

I know this has been discussed a few times before. I opted for the Mobil 1 filters which is M-302 part number for the HP500EFI. Here is a link to one thread:

I've always used the Purolator Pure One filters. They are even a really nice color blue. Rated well in another thead somewhere.

Well, I cant believe no one has brought up the AC Delco 1218 yet. It has been in the top of all reports Ive ever read and has the anti-drainback valve and lists as a replacement for the HP4. It also has the synthetic media.

MACDAD260 06-03-2003 09:04 PM

Formula31....Do all of the AC filters use synthetic media or just some of them? I am currently running a Wix 51069 but, I would like to find a short filter with synthetic media. The Mobil 1 M302 is to long to fit on my '93 with stock exhaust and filter mount. Thanks.

formula31 06-03-2003 09:28 PM

Just some I think. Not sure of my memory without finding the writeups again. I think the wix/napa racing version is synthetic too I believe, maybe even the regular. I have 3 of the stock short merc filters if you would like them. I dont know of a short number for the ac or wix but I am sure there is one.

Check this one out at Billet Marine. It will screew on in place of an existing filter and has a magnet and replaceable cartridge.
