New prop - different thrust washer ?

I went to change my prop this weekend and ran into a little problem. I was replacing a Mirage/solid hub with a Bravo I/flo-torq hub. There is a ring that is about a 1/2 inch thick(I assume this is the thrust washer) at the back of the shaft. When I put the thrust washer from the flo-torq and then the propeller on the shaft the prop sticks out from the outdrive about a half inch. I tried to pull if off but couldn't. I'm going to grab a bearing puller tonight and give that a shot. Anyone have any ideas?

put a block of wood between the drive and the thrust washer and then a big screw driver and just pry a little -- it will pop off.

I tried the gear puller last weeked with the boat in the water. I managed not to drop any thing in the water, but didn't get the washer off. I pulled the boat today and went at with a crowbar and a rubber mallet. One tap and (cling) off it came. It was definately the thrust washer, but it was only about a inch in diameter as opposed to the one that I replaced it with that was about 2 inches.
