496 wot miss-update, solved! Thanks Dixie Doug.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Doug sent me an e-mail
regarding a problem he had with these motors. The screen on the inlet of the elec. fuel pump was clogged. I took it off last night and the boat should have not run at all. It was packed with metal shavings and a couple of bugs. Suprized the gas and pressure didn't vaporize them. After a little swearing and bleeding it was back together. Guess what, my miss was gone. Now the bottom is too dirty for a speed run. Oh well I can fix that. 160 hours and almost 2yrs, and I finnally have resolved what fountain should have never let go out the door. My last new boat had a clogged fuel fitting at the tank when it was delivered.(Advantage) My 2 production, and much less expensive, boats never had these problems. At this level of the game I think a little quality control would go a long way. Next time I'm buyin used. Thanks again to all and oso. My marina has been promising to look at this for a month. All I needed was a great suggestion and a couple of tools. John |
I'm glad to hear you got it running. I have to wonder now if mine was the pump or the screen. The dealer found it and replaced the pump but maybe it just needed the screen cleaned. It would be like changing a battery when all you have wrong is a bad connection. Oh well it is behind both of us so now if this damn weather will straighten up maybe we can go boating.
