Timing and HP

SO you DYNO guys - -- If an engine is putting out roughly 600HP how much HP will you be down if your timing is sat at 29-30 deg. rather than 34 deg.
One of my distributors was loose and turned.
They are both tight now and set at 34 deg full in.

Very Very little ,it has alot of variables that figure in but 90% of time very little h.P. loss with that little timing change

Toward the end of last year the starbord engine didn't idle as smooth as the port one at the same rpm. Yeah they both idle rough just like I like them to but in gear you had to play with the throttle on the starboard one to keep it running. It also would backfire slightly if you stabbed the throttle. Now they both run the same. With as much difference as it makes at idle I would think it would make a noticable difference at WOT. That engine was down 50 rpm -- I just thought it was the steering pump pulling that engine down.

Like Bobby said there are a lot of variables. It certainly is possible you will get your 50 RPM back. Have you tried 36 or even 38? You may be leaving some on the table. Maybe we can tinker with that this weekend at Hardy???:D
