advice on flushing drive trim pump

What is the best way to flush out the old oil and add new oil in the oil pump reservoir? What type of oil is recommended?

Thanks,

Finman

Please flush when done .. !

FINMAN ,

In most cases it would be best if you can remove the pump and then the reservoir so you can get all the crud out of it. If not, the only thing you can do is just change the oil. We have suctionballs here at our shop that look like turkey basters. That would help a great deal. When its all cleaned out and put back together fill with 10w30 motor oil or trim and tilt fluid. Trim the drive out or up all the way then back down or in. Then check the fluid level. Always check the fluid level with the drive all the way in or down.

If you have any problems or any questions feel free to call.
