That is what I have always run Bobby, just trying something different. Hopefully I didn't hurt anything.

As a side note, I was just reading the back of the Mobil 1 qt bottle and it said it provides oil protection to 400F.  That is definately superior to dino oils.

Mobil 1

Call their free tech line and they'll back down significantly from that 400 deg. - brag!!!

But it is still head and shoulders over dino stuff......

MAV

P.S. - put Mobil 1 in a "waste oil" heater (like my local mechanic did several years ago) -and all it will do is boil and the heater will go out. (no heat) That should tell you plenty!

I'm running a 540 Carb engine that will see 290 degrees after a while at WOT, but when cruisin around 60 -70mph I wont see 200 degrees all day, Is 290 too high? I'm running striaght 50 weight valvoline.
Thanks Mike

I think 290 is too high. Oil can't take it from my experience.

Oh man yes 290 is to high for the conv. oil !! is that after the cooler if so get a larger cooler ,,but its really to high for the oil itself ,cheaper bearings start to flake at 320 + or _ *
the good H series bearings it not a problem except to the oil you may get a thermo to stop the big temp swing and cut down condensation when it drops below the 190* point ;) ;)
