Serpetine belt with water crossovers problem.
I bought 2 water crossover kits to eliminate the recir. pumps for my twin engine 502MPI Fountain. The problem is: if I remove the waterpump with pulley, I can not figure how to get the serpetine belt to contact the crank pulley. Is there something I am missing such as a replacement pulley/bracket to get the same belt configuration as before? The crank pulley will not touch the belt if I use a smaller length belt. Help please!!!!

I just installed a crossover on my 7.4 MPI (with serpentine belt). You MUST buy a crossover that is designed to work with a serpentine belt. I found mine at CP Performance. It came with all hardware plus a thermostat housing that eliminates the big ugly original. Cost was $489 plus shipping. I wish I had a photo to show you, but I have yet to take any.
Hope this solves your dilema.... |
Excuse my ignorance here, but, when you remove the circ pump, what runs the water thru the engine then? Is there a different pump, or does the seawater pump take care of it?
|
Yes, the sea pump takes care of it.

OK thanks very much Donman & Formulafastech. You are lifesavers. Eddie Marine is going to take the two sets I bought from them back.

Talk to Mike at CP Performance and tell him Jeff sent you, he has helped me build my 540 from the blower to the carb.
He knows his stuff and he builds custom stuff too. |
