Rotating Trailer Tires
Just curious...does anyone rotate their tires? I guess the only way to do it would be switching left sides to right sides. I'm not seeing any unusual wear. Did a search and found nothing which made me even more curious:confused: :)

Never even thought of it! Seems like the trailer is the last to get the attention. I will ask around.

I've wondered about that myself. I've never noticed any unusual wear either.

The reason you rotate tires on a car is that the fronts and rears perform different functions and have different setups (caster, camber, toe). I can't imagine a trailers front and rear tires having much difference, so I see no reason to rotate them.
|
Only reason I could think of to rotate the trailer tires is if the brakes cause uneven wear on one of the axles. Trailer tires usually get replaced because they rot out and crack, not because the tread gets worn off.
|
If you have a multiple axle trailer and one of the axles is slightly off it can cause some uneven wear on the tires. Also, if the trailer is overloaded, boat and trailer weight exceed axle capacity, could also cause uneven tire wear. These are the only situations I could see that would require tire rotation on a trailer.
