Power steering Pump
 

Lost my Hydraulic return line to the Power steering pump & ran with without much fluid as I limped home. Running this pump without Fluid???Do I need a new pump? It did squeak a little and that went away after refilling. What damage could have been done, If any??

I had a steering problem on the new boat I purchased, pulled to the left out of the hole. Changed all fliuds except PS after purchase. After 10hr, found the oil cooler leaking water and when I pulled it to fix, I noticed no PS fluid came out and then I noticed the pump dry and a bone. Put fluid in and it made some noises until the fluid was full and have been running for 10hr and still going strong.....AND, it doesn't even pull to the left any more..

Same thing happened to me, I limped it back for 45 minutes, filling it as I went and mine is still running strong.

You should be fine.

Lost power steering fluid during a race and then , still running while being towed in the inlet. No damage to pump. you should be ok.

Okay, I will not replace the pump. I hope it lasts otherwise I'll be *****in & whining on OSO again:mad:
