Bravo drive has Neutral and Forward, no reverse.
I have forward and nuetral but I have to wrk the shifter like mad to get the SOB into reverse if it'll even go. I already broke one shifter trying to get it into reverse.

You will probably find that the part that attaches to the shift fork will have an oblonged hole. The replacement is made out of a better metal that should not do this, an easy fix. To confirm try shiffting the drive with the cable that goes right to the drive from the shiffting bracket I would guess it will shift in and out with no problem. There are other things it could be but I bet it is this I had the exact same thing happen. Sorry I don't have part numbers or the right names

Great thanks, I'll have to check that out tonight.

It also could be a cable adjustment. I had reverse and no forward and that was the problem with mine.

OK I took that plate off of the front of my bravo and the first thing I see is this sludge that looks like somebody had packed it full of grease, nice. Second thing I see is that ball bearing had popped out, the one thats supposed to let you know where neutral is. The shift fork is straight but that bushing was non existant although there was hardly any slop in it. I can't imagine that that 1/8 of an inch can make a difference. The thing I don't understand is the resistance that I'm getting moving the shifter back and forth. That wouldn't have anything to do with cable adjustment and its pretty much been that way since I bought the boat. I thought it was just from the cheezy quiksliver shifter. I'm confused.

I had the same problem, and like yours I pulled the back cover off and found sludge. after I cleaned it out it worked fine.
|
hmm I'll have to try it out now.

Still no reverse, and it cost me a bump rail.

There are two metal plates that sandwich the metal plate that the shift fork is attached to, are they supposed to slide to a certain point or are they supposed to be fixed?
