trim pump question

i was out last saturday every thing is working find and for some reason starboard drive doesnt trim. luckily i wasnt trimmed all the way out nor all the way in and was able to get on plane, and it didnt take me of the water. after checking it out it appears that the connection are tight nothing loose. when i press in or out i can here and feel the solinoid click but no pump action any suggestion to look for? any experience. oh ya ive got trim rockers on the dash both individually and together and trim in the trottle handle none of the three switchs work up or down just clicking in both direction the other drive operate fine on all three switches.

If you hear the solenoids click, they're OK. But that doesn't necessarily mean you've got power to the pump. You should have a 8-10 guage 12V wire that is wired to both solenoids on that pump. Be sure you've got power to it all the time. This wire may be fused as well, so check that. If it has power and the solenoids are allowing 12V though when activated, check the black ground wire from the pump motor itself. Make sure it's grounded and not corroded. There are 3 wires coming out of the pump body. Two are connected to the solenoids, the third is grounded to the pump body and this should be grounded to the motor or - battery terminal.
If that's all OK, buy a new pump.

BTW, if you do need a new one, they're available though some of the places in FL (ie BAM) at about 1/2 the price of the LOTO dealers.
You'll need to know which type you have. The old Prestolite with the square bottom reservoir or the newer Oildyne with the round revervoir or odd shaped plastic reservoir.

I you have power to pump, just jump the hot side of the solenoid to either the green or blue wire. The pump should run, if it does it's the solenoid, if it doesn't get yourself the brush kit, part # 17631A1 for $31.00 or the pump rebuild kit 18545A1 for $63.00
Both are available online from www.hlsm.com just compare the pricing between all their vendors. New Pump is $521 while the motor alone is $185.

I've done the brushes on a few, seems to be a fairly common problem.
