Question for the prop gods
I'm currently running a labbed 26 bravo one.
I'm spinning it to 5700-5800rpms. This has gotten me to a best of 80.7 mph. This boat has a pretty conservative "X" dimension, I have never measured it but it looks low. The boat requires a lot of positive trim to attain the top speed. I have tried a out of the box 28 Bravo one and it didn't work so well. The most I was able to get was 5100rpm's and the boat lacked mid range accelaration. Of course just like everyone else I'm looking for more, more , more ! More speed at a cruise and of course some more on the top end. The question is, would a reworked 28 work better or am I fully dialed in with the 26 ? If a 28 would work better it would have to be more than 1-2 mph, to justify the cost. Is it possible to make a gain of more than 1-2 mph with just a prop change at this point ? |
Mike,
We talked about 2-3 years ago. I've already done the Bennet tab thing and the windshield glass has been replaced with white lexan panels. (for that fairing look) Since the lake I boat on is always full of boat slop I prefer the four blade , the Mirage was a little unstable (for me) at the higher speeds. Thanks |
26 Scarab,
Can you give me some specifics about your boat, motor and drive. It is obvious your goal is Top End. Lets see if we can find a little more speed there for you. Julie Throttle Up Propellers 877-842-6855 |
I would think you may gain 1 or 2 with a 28mirage + labbed and balanced.

Throttle-Up is the best in the bussiness. Go with them and you will not be sorry.

I agree with Just Once. You would be fortunate to get 2 mph from a prop change. I would put any budgeted top speed $ towards a shorter lower unit. The fact that you can get on plane with a Mirage prop says you are a great candidate for a raised X-dimension.

sound's like
you are at your Max on the four blades, and as far as three blade prop it will run faster, but as you know,The handling at high speeds is alot more unstable.:D ;)

get a 2" shorter lower for your bravo, and keep the 4 blade
|
H2xmark,
Yes I think that would be the right thing to do. Just more money !:) |
I know what you mean, I have ben thinking about doing that with my boat, but those shorter lowers are some $$$$$ you would think that someone could just cut down the stock unit, how much trouble would that be???
