EFI VST - fuel preasure

I'm running a 1995 502 EFI with the VST tank. I am concerned about WOT fuel pressure as my boat (I think) could run stronger @ WOT. I know there is a fuel pressure tap at the front of the intake manifold, but where can you rent, borrow or buy a gauge that will attach to that "Schrader Valve" without a serious risk of leaking while under power -- WOT power???

I borrowed a fuel pressure gauge from a local mechanic's shop and did get a key "on" pressure of 42 lbs - with a quick leak down once the key cycled off -- only to discovery the guage "tap" was leaking at the connection to my motor and spewing raw gas into my bilge?!??!?!?

Help........

MAV

P.S. What pressures should I find an hold at WOT????

If you disconnect the vacuum hose connected to the regulator , the pressure should be completely steady at all rpms and the same as it is when you just turn on the ignition. If you know a merc mechanic somewhere, they usually have a very good merc fuelpressure gauge that does not leak.
