best set up?
Hello out there...I'm new here and after looking around awhile I have a few questions, maybe someone can help. I have a 1986 21' Scarab-1 with a Yamaha 225 OB onit with a DI turbo jack plate and the lower has been modified with the a racing skeg and bottom water pick-up. I have had this boat for three seasons now and would like to get it dialed in 100% When I bought the boat the dealer said that it had a chopper prop on it, I did not get that however but I got a 21 Yamaha S.S. prop. The motor was way too high and the prop slipped way too much so I lowered the motor 3". It seams to work O.K. but I'm only turning 4900 RPM's at max power and trimmed up as far as I can go without "chine walkin" I want to get this thing going right. ANy ideas? Should I go with a chopper or cleaver prop and then jack the motor back up? or should I just go with a 19 S.S. prop to get the RPM's back up to where they should be? If I go with a chopper or cleaver which would be better for my set up and where do I start? size, manufacturer, place to buy, etc.? ANy help would be very cool! Thanks!
