question-metal spiral ring in bellows?
 
Ok, i replaced the u-joint bellows in my alpha question is inside the bellows is a metal spiral ring i had to take it out so i could squish the bellows into place do i have to put that back in or can i leave it out .i tried to put it back in but it is a ***** so i came in the house to ask you guys/girls this question hoping you say it is ok to leave out???

You have to put it back----It keeeps the bellows in its proper shape. You don't want the bellows rubbing against the drive shaft...

Yeah, you do need to put the S.O.B. back in. There is a technique that you learn and nobody can tell you (like how to balance a bicycle at four) and you will get on your 10th or 11th try. Hang in there! --- Jer

And also; don't get lazy and let the spring wire cross out of a groove as it wants to do and let it go at that. More serious problems can result! --- Jer
