7.4 efi 1998 rotor removal

I have 1998 7.4efi and I just pulled the distributor cap. It looks like the rotor should just pull off. Does it just pull off or is there a screw under there somewhere? I tried to pry it a bit, but didn't want to try and force it before I know a little more about it... Thanks for time and assistance!!! Can't wait until I have two of these under the hatch!!!!

Just pull it straight up, might want to slightly tap it with a screwdriver handle first though, just to break any bond it my have...

They usually have "lock-tite" on them from mercruiser.

I just grab it with a rag or a glove and twist it until it breaks off. Just make sure you get all the broken pieces out before putting on the new parts.

The distributor shaft is slotted. It gets all nasty and sticks like the guys said. I dont know if I would break it, but definatly put a glove on so it doesnt hurt as much when you smack your hand after it lets loose.

Mercury loctite's them on. A large pair of channel locks works well if you need more leverage.
