I am bummed..Blown XR?
 

Just returned from the ramp. Metal, large chunks on the magnet of my new XR mated to a 502/B&M 250. Never really hammered very hard but the cap blew off the reservoir bottle. Oil smelled burnt and prognosis is not good. I will post with some specific question on temp etc. when get more info. Right now a Vodka and Grapefruit seem more important as I am back in the driveway.

I feel your pain. We got VERY lucky when Merc said they would fully warranty the one year old XZ that locked up on us two weekends ago.

The fluid in mine looked GREAT, just a lot of metal from top to bottom. The fill bottle did not have foam, the cap stayed on and no burnt smell.

I am trying to learn more about what causes these to fail. Keep us posted on what you find.

Yes we all would like to know more on the XZ and XR failures, keep us posted.
