You know sutphen, I didn't look real close at the plugs behind the top gear, but I am pretty sure there are no holes. Is there supposed to be? Never heard that. Are they to lub the chain? I don't usually run them with the covers off. I can see oil pooling in the rocker adjusting setscrew and there was plenty of oil on top, so some was getting there. If all goes well, I should have the engine back in the boat tomorrow night to see where I am. I'll let you know the verdict.

BT

Update: Replaced bypass and still had noisey valve train. Pulled engine back out tonight. Looks like I bent some intake valves when I was trying to install crank. In retrospect, it was dumb to install crank without at least backing off the rocker arms. Pistons must have moved up into the valves when the rod caps were off.

Reminds me of the saying, "we always have time to do it over, but never time to do it right the first time". Shame on me. Thank for the help fellas,

Dave
