Tinkerboater: that is a kind offer. Wish we were closer too.

My schedule this week stinks. I've got to hit the road tomarrow, and wont be able to work more on the boat much til next week. The hole is enlarged, and a q-tip swabbed in there comes out dry?!!! I don't get it.

I attempted to remove the plug assembly, but decided not to when I started to think about 5200. Sticking my little finger into it, I felt the transom wood on the top, but something smooth and slick on the bottem. That may be what steve 1 was talking about. It is as if the hole drilled for the plug only caught 75% wood. I'd love to know where the water from the screw hole flowed to. Starting to think it flowed to the plug hole, in front of the plug assembly. The whole hole is about 2 1/2 to 3 inches deep, and the brass assembly is only 1 inch.

Right now I have a fan in there, blowing through the drain plug. I know it is a band aid approach, but it is the best I've got right now. Will get to work on a vac pump when I return.

Mcollinstn: Yes, twin BBC, and it's about a mile down to the drain plug inside the engine compartment. I hope to do all the repair from the outside.

Take your shop vac and put the hose up on the transom. You will be amazed at how much vacume those things can generate. You will piss of your neighbors but THIS IS YOUR BOAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!! :D

Do you have a de-humidifier? If you do bag off the area around the area with some plastic. You may have to improvise a little with the plastic. Let it run a few days. I had a flood from a burst pipe this winter, the clean up crew used this technique on my walls and it worked very well.

by the way, Bravos have pitot tubes in their leading edges. You might want to use one of them and seal all the transom holes...
