Prop's for Alpha's
Ok, I realize all you guys are going to laugh but my 75 Cigarette has Alpha 1 drives, updated from the original with stock 5.7 Merc's. My question is does anyone have experience with Alpha's and can the suggest props. I am not counter rotating. Boat performs well with standard props.
Thanks |
Gonna depend more on the boat and how it rides with different props. Alphas and Bravos use the same props.

What size boat? I had 23 B1's on my 242 Formula with alpha's.

28 SS Open. rides well

alpha outdrive vs bravo drive
the two outdrives use the same prop or props, the main difference is the bravo -one is stronger( CAN HANDLE MORE HP) lets start with the current props you are running now ,what pitch are they??
Let us know so we can get you dialed in ,By the way the alpha is a great outdrive and then the Bravo was born./Darin:D 281-580-7767 |
21 pitch, aluminum prop.

Mirage props
Mirage props are the best for this application as they have a large blade area which you need, also we need alot more info as to how the 21pitch aluminum prop runs but guessing you will need a 19 or 21 mirage depening on what you do .ect./Darin

Darin,
What's your theory on running large (Weight and diameter) props on Alphas? I've been told it's suicide because the smaller weaker prop shafts will break under the strain. I've been told to stick with a smaller (weight and diameter)props for alphas. Brian |
alpha outdrives
He has 260 hp , That is not enough muscle to break the drives. He could run a smaller dia"prop, but that wouldnt perform like the bigger dia".Darin
